Power restoration still underway after Southern Oklahoma storms

The sound of buzz saws filled the air in Pauls Valley and other southern Oklahoma towns and cities on Wednesday.  And likely the chain saws are still busy following the early Wednesday morning storm that skipped across the southern part of the state and packed winds estimated at 100 miles an hour.

“We don’t know if it was a straight wind or a tornado,” Melissa Jones told the Lawton Constitution.

“But it sounded like a freight train. The dogs were going crazy. I looked at my husband and I told him we need to get to safety.”

As of Thursday morning, an estimated 4,000 customers of OGE were still without power and around 2,000 were in Pauls Valley. A company spokesman indicated it could be late Friday before most of the outages are repaired.

Police in Pauls Valley implemented a midnight curfew Wednesday night and indicated there had already been some thefts and looting following the outages.
