Oklahoma wind farm operator to build in Illinois

One of the nation’s latest wind farm projects has been announced by a Dallas company.  Leeward Renewable Energy LLC has entered into an agreement to build a wind farm for the Target Corporation in Illinois.

The Lone Tree Wind project will be in Bureau County, Illinois and have a capacity of 79.4 megawatts. It will be constructed next to an existing Leeward-owned wind farm known as Crescent Ridge.

Construction will begin this fall and completion is expected by December 2020.

Leeward Renewable has more than 19 wind projects in nine states with a wind portfolio of 1.7 gigawatts. One of the 19 is the Blue Canyon wind farm near Carnegie, Oklahoma. It has 74.25 megawatts capacity. Another of the company’s projects is the Aragonne wind farm at Santa Rosa, New Mexico.
