DEQ to holding meeting on Eagle Industries Superfund Site in Midwest City

The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality is preparing to hold a public informational meeting on the Eagle Industries Superfund site in Midwest City.

The meeting will be held Tuesday, June 18 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Nick Harroz Community center, 200 N. Midwest Blvd in Midwest City.

A presentation will be given at 6:45 p.m. by representatives from the DEQ and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. They will be available to answer questions about the 2.271 acre site located at 10901 S.E. 29th street.

It was at the former company site where workers inspected and repaired aircraft oxygen and fire extinguisher systems from 1990 through 2010.  As a result of the operations, onsite soil and ground water contamination resulted from what the government called “improper handling practices” of the chemical trichloroethylene or TCE.

Eagle Industries was put on the National Priorities List in January 2018.
