Wind turbine collapses during strong winds in northern Oklahoma

Those wind turbines across Oklahoma are supposed  to withstand strong winds, but one collapsed this week in northern Oklahoma.

It was near Hunter where a turbine to Enel Green buckled as 40 mile an hour winds swept across the Chisholm View II wind farm. The farm extends into Grant and Garfield counties.

An investigation is under way by Enel Green Power North America.

“Enel Green Power North America is working with the turbine manufacturer GE to investigate an incident that occurred yesterday involving a turbine failure at our Chisholm View II wind project in Grant County, Oklahoma,” the company said Wednesday in a statement to the Enid News and Eagle.

The turbine is part of Enel Green Power’s 6,000-acre complex built adjacent to the original, much larger, Chisholm View project, which sits on 45,000 acres.
