TrinityRail to build new maintenance center

The Fort Worth-based Trinity Industries announced that its subsidiary TrinityRail Maintenance Services Inc. is investing $60 million in a 230 acre site for a rail maintenance operation in northern Iowa.

The operation will be in the small town of Shell rock, Iowa and will eventually hire 250 workers. The company said that upon completion, the facility will provide a full range of railcar services including repairs and maintenance, coatings, cleaning, inspections and testing.

The site’s co-location with the Iowa Northern Railroad was a factor in Trinity’s decision to build the facility.

The Company anticipates the new facility to be operational by the end of 2020.
