DEQ offers free testing of private wells impacted by flooding

The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is offering free bacteriological testing of private water wells that have been submerged in flood water.

The offer extends to residents in the following counties:
Adair, Atoka, Bryan, Canadian, Carter, Cherokee, Choctaw,
Cleveland, Coal, Comanche, Cotton, Craig, Creek, Delaware,

Garvin, Grady, Haskell, Hughes, Jefferson, Johnston, Latimer,
LeFlore, Lincoln, Logan, Love, Marshall, Mayes, McClain, McCurtain, McIntosh, Murray, Muskogee, Nowata, Okfuskee
Oklahoma, Okmulgee, Osage, Ottawa, Pawnee, Payne,
Pittsburg, Pontotoc, Pottawatomie, Pushmataha, Rogers,
Seminole, Sequoyah, Stephens, Tillman, Tulsa, Wagoner and
Washington counties.

The DEQ urged users not to drink the water from private wells submerged in flood water until the well has been disinfected and tests show the well water is safe. For disinfection and sampling instructions and supplies, contact DEQ at (800) 522-0206
