Oklahoma’s number one water field provider in the oil and gas industry, Bison Solutions just got larger with the purchase of Cobalt Environmental Solutions, a Texas based company that operates in the Anadarko basin of Oklahoma.
Just last year, Bison closed on a deal to buy S and S Star Water Solutions for an undisclosed amount. S and S was a water infrastructure firm operating in the state’s SCOOP, STACK and Merge plays.
Blue Sage Capital, an Austin, Texas based private equity firm, closed on the Cobalt sale but did not disclose the sales price. Cobalt operates in the SCOOP and Merge plays and is considered to be a leading operator of oilfield wastewater disposal and hydrocarbon extraction facilities in the region.
Cobalt was created by Blue Sage as an oilfield waste platform in 2014. Blue Sage partnered with management to establish long-term commercial relationships with key producers in the region.
At the time of Bison’s purchase of S and S last year, the combined company was considered to be Oklahoma’s largest privately-held energy services firm. It had more than 1,500 employees working out of 17 yards with 300 transport trucks and 25 commercial disposal facilities. Bison operates inside every major oil and gas play in the state including the Arkoma basin.
