Panhandle gas wells ‘recompleted’ 75 years later

Six natural gas wells that were drilled during World War Two in the Oklahoma Panhandle were recently recompleted by Scout Energy Management, LLC.

The Dallas, Texas based private investment firm performed hydraulic fracturing on the wells. Spud dates on the wells ranged from March and April, June and October of 1944 in Texas County.

The new completion reports on file with the Oklahoma Corporation Commission jump 75 years when showing their initial completion dates to the recompletion dates in 2019.

Each of the six gas wells were straight holes.

Scout Energy’s website indicated it has completed more than 50 acquisitions with more than $1.5 billion in acquisition value since establishing its first institutional fund in 2011.

Some of those acquisitions are in Oklahoma.
