Newfield Exploration presses ahead with successful wells in the STACK

Newfield Exploration Mid-Con Inc. filed seven completion reports on Friday with the Oklahoma Corporation Commission including six in Blaine County.

The largest producer brought in 1,198 Boed. The Castonguay 1610 4H-2X is located midway between Watonga and Kingfisher and 4 miles north of State highway 33 near the Lomega High School. Its legal site is 2 16N 10W.

Records show the well had a June 30, 2018 spud date and drilling ended in late December 2018. Completion was made January 3, 2019. In addition to the nearly 1,200 Boed, the well also had 3,205 Mcf of natural gas.

The well was drilled about the time that Calgary-based Encana Corp. acquired Newfield Exploration Co. in an all-stock deal valued at $5.5 billion. Encana agreed to assume $2.2 billion in Newfield debt.

Newfield brought nearly 360,000 acres in Oklahoma’s Anadarko basin to the combined company, along with 6,000 gross well locations and 3 billion barrels of oil equivalent in net unrisked resource.
