Boeing lands $14 billion contract for more work at Tinker AFB

The number of Boeing workers at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City will likely remain high for the next ten years, thanks to a more than $14 billion contract awarded to the company by the Air Force.

The $14.3 billion contract calls for Boeing to do work on the B-1 Lancer and the B-52 aircraft. The work will involve modification, modernization and tests of the weapons systems on the  two models of bombers.

The contract is a 10-year deal and the work will be performed at Tinker Air Force base where Boeing already has a high number of employees. A similar contract was awarded ten years ago to Boeing. The work might even involve some hardware and software development.

Boeing spokeswoman Lori Rasmussen called it “great news” for the company said it could mean high employment numbers for the company in the future.
