Air Force resumes deliveries of Boeing’s new KC 46 tanker

More of the newest air refueling tankers joining the Air Force fleet could be arriving soon at Altus Air Force base in southwest Oklahoma.

The Air Force indicated this week it had started to accept the Pegasus tankers made by Boeing, but only after stringent inspections were carried out on the giant planes.

The Air Force had stopped accepting deliveries last month after foreign debris was found in compartments of the plane for a second time. The publication, Defense News, reported the sealed compartments of the planes were scrutinized.

It stated that tankers already delivered to Altus Air Force base and McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, Kansas will have to have their fuel tanks drained so workers can climb inside and search for any possible foreign debris.
