Top ten largest wind farms in the world

When it comes to large wind farms, Oklahoma’s wind powered projects pale in comparison to the top 10 largest farms in the world.

Some are located in Texas but one of the largest in terms of size of land taken up by its wind turbines is the Fowler Ridge wind Farm in Indiana. It covers 50,000 acres and supplies enough power for 200,000 homes. The farm is owned and operated jointly by BP Alternative Energy North America and Dominion Resources, each with a 50 percent stake.

As for the remaining top ten largest wind farms, Energy Digital listed them and said the largest in the world is the Gansu Wind Farm in Gansu, China. It has a capacity of 6,000 megawatts of electricity. It was one of six mega-wind farms now under construction in China. China is spending $20 billion on building the remaining farms that will produce a massive 20,000 MW of power by 2020.
