Small quake shakes Grady County in Oklahoma

Typically most earthquakes in  Oklahoma have occurred in the northern reaches of the state or central, but the Friday night quake was recorded due west of Oklahoma City.

The U.S. Geological Survey recorded it was a 2.4 magnitude quake with an epicenter about 5 miles west of Minco or 14 miles southwest of El Reno.

The depth was about 3 miles.  Minco is located in Grady County where there has been extensive and growing drilling activity in the SCOOP shale play.
