2017 ice storm repairs are still with some Oklahoma electrical cooperatives

Repairs are still being made from the 2017 Ice Storm named Jupiter that hit northwest Oklahoma.

The California-based RES System 3, a firm that contracts for electrical repairs is asking for bids to repair nearly 380 miles of distribution power lines in Woodward and Ellis Counties.

Newspaper advertisements by the company indicated the work would consist of re-spanning, replacement of conductor, replacement and relocation of poles and pole top assemblies.  It would also involve replacing poles in the 380 mile stretch of power lines.

The bid advertisement referred to FEMA Declaration #4299 in January of 2017.

The massive storm prompted Gov. Mary Fallin to declare a state of emergency as schools and government offices closed on Jan. 13, 2017. One person died in an accident near Weatherford on Jan. 14 while the storm left stranded drivers in northeast Oklahoma. Interstate 40 was closed due to multiple accidents.
