Fracking supporter on House Energy Subcommittee is a Democrat

Oklahoma Congressman Frank Lucas might find some support for Oklahoma’s oil and gas industry when he sits on the House Science, Space and Technology Committee.

It would come none other than from Pennsylvania Democratic Rep. Connor Lamb who recently was named chairman of the Committee’s Subcommittee on Energy.

“In my district, energy means family-supporting jobs and cutting-edge science.  The work of the Energy Subcommittee of the Science, Space and Technology Committee is critical to our region,” said Congressman Lamb.  “I look forward to working with Chairwoman Johnson (D-TX) and Ranking Member Lucas (R-OK) and all members of the committee to ensure America continues its leadership in this critical sector.”

Further, Rep. Lamb, much to the dismay of environmentalists and Democrats is also a supporter of fracking in the gas industry. Natural gas is big in his Western Pennsylvania district and in the campaign in the special election he won last year, he came out in support of the hydraulic fracturing.

” He did not endear himself to some environmentalists when he supported natural gas fracking, siding with energy industry workers still reeling from the decline of the coal industry,” wrote Politico reporter Bill Scher in a 2018 article about Lamb’s victory.
