Congresswoman downplays Trump’s state of the union address

Oklahoma Congresswoman Kendra Horn indicated she didn’t think much of President Trump’s state of the union address.

But she indicated her role in the nation’s energy sector will be important for Oklahomans.

“With my appointments to the powerful House Armed Services Committee and influential Science, Space, and Technology Committee, and as chair of the Subcommittee on Space and Aeronautics, I am ready to roll up my sleeves and get to work to get our nation’s fiscal house in order, strengthen our national security, and create a path to prosperity for the middle class,” said the state’s only Democratic member of the congressional delegation. “I have and will continue to put the interests of Oklahomans over party so our state and country can move forward.”

Rep. Horn went on to indicate she hopes the President’s calls for bipartisanship were indeed genuine.

” I have long said that we have more that unites us than divides us. Now is the time for radical pragmatism and putting partisan labels aside for the best interests of Oklahoma and the country. Oklahomans know that, for our country to solve its most challenging problems, the President and Congress must work together.”

Horn said she has heard again and again from Oklahoma’s about the need for affordable healthcare, the burden of student loan debt and the importance of rebuilding our nation’s infrastructure.

“These issues will not solve themselves. As a Member of Congress, these are some of the important issues I look forward to tackling with my colleagues.”
