Pipeline Emergency Training held in Tulsa

A Homeland Security exercise held Wednesday in Tulsa focused on a pipeline emergency response.

Representatives of oil and gas distributors took part in the event presented by Paradigm,  Kansas based company. The exercise was conducted through the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Protocols.

The basis for the exercise was to establish how to respond to a hypothetical train derailment according to a report by the Tulsa World.

“The goal is to make the participants aware of their responsibilities and inform them of the other people in the room’s responsibility,” explained Larry Thomas, an instructor with Paradigm. “It’s really an opportunity to get to know the experts in the pipeline industry and if they ever have to work together.”

The newspaper reported that participants included fire departments of Tulsa, Sand Springs and Berryhill.
