The State Department of Environmental Quality has announced it is selling environmental license plates.
The department explained that the new plates including a picture of an American Bison grazing on the Oklahoma prairie. The other available tag is the Oklahoma sunset over a field of flowers. Both designs were picked as winners last year in a contest in which voters made their decision online.
The new tags were created to help communicate the importance of preserving and restoring Oklahoma’s beautiful landscape.
Each specialty plate costs $39 and $20 goes to fund DEQ’s Environmental Education Tag Grant Program. The program provides money to Oklahoma schools for environmentally-focused projects.
