Chesapeake Energy leadership pushes ahead with more personal acquisitions of company stock

Chesapeake Energy executives are gobbling up more of their company’s low-priced shares.

Form 4 filings made this week with the Securities and Exchange Commission showed four officers purchased nearly $1.3 million in shares. The purchases followed earlier acquisitions totaling millions of dollars in shares by company executives.

In the latest round of buyups, Chief Executive Officer Robert D. Lawler made the largest acquisition with a $528,742 purchase of 251,782 shares. It brought his total ownership to more than 4.4 million shares.

Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Domenic Dell’Osso Junior paid more than $263,000 for 125,646 shares in the company. It leaves him with a total ownership of 1,528,929 shares.

Chesapeake’s Executive Vice President and General Counsel James R. Webb bought 108,315 shares, shelling out $227,461 for them. He now has 979,863 ownership of Chesapeake shares.

Executive President of Operations M. Jason Pigott paid $209,000 for 99,649 shares, giving him ownership of more than 1 million company shares.

William M. Buergler, Senior Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer was the fourth executive to make a large buy in company shares. He paid $2.1 a share for 57,387 shares.
