Texas firm backs off proposed disposal well site fought by Canadian County residents

A Texas firm specializing in wastewater disposal wells is dropping it latest controversial well proposal in Canadian County.

H2OK LLC based in Marble Falls, Texas has backed off a request to drill a well in the northern part of the county near the Northwest Highway and Banner Road according to a report in the Yukon Progress.

The paper said an attorney for H2OK “is dismissing” its application for the well after it had been opposed by residents in the vicinity.

Two of those residents were Betty and Selby Egender who were excited that the company had reversed its course.

“This is wonderful,” said Betty Egender.

The Egenders were joined by Devon Energy which also protested the proposed well site.

It was the second unsuccessful effort this year by H2OK in its well-drilling requests in Canadian County. An earlier request to drill a disposal well near Darlington Schools and the Lucky Star Casino north of El Reno was met with opposition and the company withdrew the application.
