Just across the state line with Oklahoma, a large $12 million solar energy project is nearing completion in Texas.
For the past two years, work has been underway on the solar farm near Sherman, Texas. Once the project is completed, power from the solar panels will provide electricity to about 10 percent of the homes in the city of about 42,000..
As KTEN TV in Sherman reported this week, the project sits on 115 acres of land and is considered to be the largest solar farm in Grayson County.
It should be in operation sometime in 2019.
