Still more earthquakes in northern Oklahoma and southern Kansas

More minor earthquakes have been reported in southern Kansas and northern Oklahoma, an area where wastewater injection wells are blamed.

A 2.7 magnitude quake was registered by the U.S. Geological Survey at 5:30 a.m. on Thursday near the southern Kansas town of Bluff City.  The quake was about 3 miles deep.

Bluff City is located 44 miles west of Arkansas City, Kansas and nearly 46 miles north of Enid, Oklahoma.

A Wednesday evening earthquake measuring 2.6 magnitude was recorded near Renfrow, Oklahoma.  The USGS indicated the depth was about 2.5 miles and the epicenter was nearly 5 miles west of the town that sits about 6 miles from the state line and just north of Medford.

It struck at 6:22 p.m.
