Rig count remains steady in Oklahoma while national count is up one

The number of oil and gas rigs remained at 141 in Oklahoma in the past week compared to the previous week. Nationally, the count increased by one to reach 1,068.

The national count saw a growth of 2 more oil rigs to reach 875 while the number of gas rigs fell by one to land at 193. The nationwide count is 159 more than last year when there were 909 at this time.

Oklahoma’s count of 141 compares to 125 a year ago. Colorado’s count slipped by one to hit 32 while the number of rigs in Kansas jumped by 9 to reach 39. Louisiana saw a drop of 3 to reach 61.

New Mexico’s count grew by one to reach 101 compared to the 67 working rigs reported a year ago. North Dakota added 2 to reach 54 while the count in Texas dropped by 3 to land at 537. Wyoming’s count remained at 30.

Oil the oil plays, The Granite Wash remained 14, 4 more than a year ago.  The Mississippian stayed at 7, up two from the count last year at this time.

The Permian Basin dropped one rig to hit 489, still up considerably from the 379 rigs last year. The D-J Niobrara dropped one to hit 27 while the Williston added 4 to reach 56 working rigs.

The Woodfords remained at 11 rigs, down one from a year ago.
