OKC Energy company denies allegations in lawsuit over deadly well blowout

One of the energy companies sued over the January 2018 gas rig explosion that killed five men near Quinton, Oklahoma has responded to the allegations in the suit.

Red Mountain Energy of Oklahoma City filed its answer to the suit in Pittsburg County District Court. The suit was filed by families of two of the workers killed in the well blowout that resulted in a fire that destroyed the rig.

Red Mountain Energy denied the claims in the lawsuit, including one that the firm had used cheaper and insufficiently weighted drilling mud that failed to control the well. Company president Tony Say, one of the founders of the firm issued a recent statement saying the allegations in the lawsuit were false and unproven.

“Safe, responsible operations are the top priority at every Red Mountain well, and our deepest sympathies go out to those affected by this tragedy,” he added. “We are confident the legal process will exonerate our company.
