Merger approved of Energy Transfer owners

A merger of Dallas-based Energy Transfer Equity, L.P. and Energy Transfer Partners, L.P.

Common unitholders approved the move at a meeting in Dallas. More than 98% of the common units supported the merger. The merger was closed Oct. 19 and a new name was approved as well.

Energy Transfer Equity will change its name to Energy Transfer LP and its common units will begin trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the “ET” ticker symbol.

Energy Transfer has 71,000 miles of pipeline carrying natural gas, crude oil and natural gas liquids. It was involved in the Dakota Access Pipeline in North Dakota that drew thousands of Native American and environmental protesters.

It also has extensive operations of pipelines in Oklahoma.
