County in Colorado stops oil and gas drilling permits until voters have their say

Less than a week before Colorado voters decide on Proposition 112 and its proposed stricter setbacks for oi land gas drilling, one county has halted the issuance of new drilling permits.

Adams County, located at the east of Denver took the action this week, temporarily halting new permits until the end of November.

County commissioners voted 4-1 for the move, awaiting the decision of voters on Proposition 112 which would increase oil and gas drilling to at least 2,500 feet from homes and businesses. The current restriction is 1,000 feet.

Commissioners indicated once the voting results are known, they will reconsider new permits in December.
