Four to be honored by Oklahoma Geological Foundation

The Oklahoma Geological  Foundation announced it intends to honor four men at its Nov. 1 Legends Dinner to be held in Oklahoma City.

One is Frank E. Phillips who will be honored with the Pioneer Legend Award. The banker and oilman who founded Phillips Petroleum Co. in Bartlesville in 1917 along with his brother Lee Eldas Phllips died in 1950.

Keith Walker will receive the Historical Legend award. He died earlier this year but after World War II, he moved to Ardmore and began his career in the oil industry in 1949. He founded Keith F. Walker Oil and Gas in 1956 and drilled more than 600 wells as he ran the company for more than 50 years.

Thomas W. Olsen will get the Historical Legend award. He spent his professional career as a petroleum geologist with Cities Service and with the Quinton Little Cos. in Ardmore.

Richard D. Fritz will get the Foundation’s Living Legend \award. He is CEO of Council Oak Resources in Tulsa. Fritz started his career in 1977 with Exxon then went to work for Masera Corp in 1982. He joined SM Energy in 2011 then founded Council Oak Resources in 2015.

The Legends Dinner will be held at the Petroleum club Event Center, 404 N. Lincoln Blvd in Oklahoma City.
