Congressman to hold meeting over NE Oklahoma poultry operations

The resentment over the growth of poultry operations and fears they might cause more water contamination in northeast Oklahoma has the attention of U.S. Rep. Markwayne Mullin.

He plans to hold a community meeting for Second district residents on Friday, beginning at 9 a.m. at the Kansas High School.

“I have heard from a number of Oklahomans about the influx of chicken farms in their communities,” said Mullin.  “As a U.S. Representative, I do not have influence over matters at the state and local level, but this issue is of growing concern for many Oklahomans and their families.  A community meeting on the topic with local and state officials will help everyone be informed.”

County Commissioners and Jim Reese, Oklahoma Secretary of Agriculture will join Rep. Mullin at the meeting. The Representative also intends to stream it live on Congressman Mullin’s Facebook page.
