House Energy and Natural Resources Committee to Host Two Oil and Gas Interim Studies

The Oklahoma House of Representatives Energy and Natural Resources Committee will kick off the legislative interim studies by hosting a deep dive on two oil and gas topics in mid-August.

The legislative committee will utilize the morning session to address municipal and state guidelines concerning oil and gas production within municipal boundaries. The committee will re-evaluate and study existing state laws to determine whether additional legislation is required prior to the December bill filing deadline later this year.

Rep. Bobby Cleveland (R-Slaughterville) authored House Interim Study 18-027 which was consolidated with another study when it was approved by House Speaker Charles McCall.

Following a lunch break, the afternoon session is devoted to studying the effect of longer lateral lines on the oil and gas industry. Rep. Tommy Hardin (R-Madill) authored House Interim Study 18-047.

The combined studies will be held on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. in Room 412C at the State Capitol. Interested parties may attend the meeting in person or follow the action online via the legislature’s official website, www.oklegislature.gov.
