Damaged lake dam at Piedmont causes concern

A residential lake dam caused fear this week that damages could result in the dam breaking near Piedmont, flooding parts of Kingfisher County.

The Oklahoma Water Resources Board quickly ordered repairs to be made and efforts were undertaken to drain water from Falcon Lake which is in a residential neighborhood of Piedmont.

At least one home was under a mandatory evacuation order as of late Wednesday.  However, by Thursday morning, the situation had eased and officials no longer feared the dam might be breached by recent rains.

But more rain was in the forecast.
