Sen. Inhofe praises Pruitt’s work as EPA Chief

While Vermont U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders called Scott Pruitt the worst EPA Chief in U.S. history, Oklahoma U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe would disagree.

In response to Pruitt’s resignation on Thursday, the Republican Senator said Pruitt did great work to reduce the nations regulatory burdens facing our nation while leading the Environmental Protection Agency.

“He was single minded at restoring the EPA to its proper statutory authority and ending the burdensome regulations that have stifled economic growth across the country,” said the Senator in a statement. “I was pleased to work with him on critical issues, like pulling out of the Paris Climate Agreement and prioritizing the cleanup of Superfund sites.”

As for the man who will take over on Monday for Pruitt, Sen. Inhofe calls Andrew Wheeler the perfect choice.

“Andrew worked for me for 14 years, has an impeccable reputation and has the experience to be a strong leader at the EPA,” said the senator.  “I have no doubt and complete confidence he will continue the important deregulatory work that Scott Pruitt started while being a good steward of the environment.”

Pruitt’s resignation prompted this statement from Sen. Bernie Sanders.

““Scott Pruitt was the worst EPA administrator in the history of the agency. Not only has he acted, time and time again, in an unethical manner, but he has led the agency in exactly the wrong direction. Instead of protecting our environment and combating climate change, he has worked to protect the interests of the fossil fuel industry and polluters all over the country. His resignation is a positive step forward for our country. I will do everything possible to see that the next EPA administrator actually believes in environmental protection.”
