Oklahoma City’s Automobile Alley to get new $40 million office tower

Reporter Steve Lackmeyer at The Oklahoman always has his ear in tune to business developments in Oklahoma City. His latest story focuses on the $40 million new headquarters to be built for Heartland, the U.S. payments and payroll division for Global Payments.

In Friday’s edition, Lackmeyer reported how plans are finalized and construction is expected to begin later this year. The new headquarters in downtown Oklahoma City will be on the east side of Broadway between NW  and NW 7 where employees of Kerr-McGee and SandRidge Energy used to park.

Started in 1997, Heartland Payment Systems was acquired by Global Payments two years ago. The new headquarters will allow the Oklahoma City workforce to grow from 150 to 400.

The planned 7-story headquarters is expected to be finished and open for business in mid-2020. Oklahoma City’s new streetcar will pass in front of the offices located on Automobile Alley.

The new building will also have ground-floor space available for lease by two restaurants.
