Rep. Mullin to take part in Thursday Congressional hearing on hydropower

Oklahoma congressman Markwayne Mullin and other members of a House  Energy and Commerce subcommittee hold a hearing this week on improving the hydropower licensing process.

The hearing will be held Thursday, June 7 at 10 a.m. Oklahoma Time.  It will explore the progress in improving interagency coordination for the processing of environmental reviews and authorizations for non-Federal hydropower projects.

The industry employs a workforce of nearly 143,000.

“Today’s hydropower developments face a burdensome regulatory approval process bogged down by unnecessary and costly delays,” said Rep. Fred Upton of Michigan, chairman of the Energy Subcommittee. “We must modernize the way we license projects that utilize hydropower to ensure consumers have access to our cleanest, most affordable and reliable energy resource.”
