New Board Member Named at Tulsa’s Williams Companies

Tulsa’s Williams Companies, Inc. gets a new independent director on its Board.

Nancy K. Buese, the executive vice president and chief financial officer for Newmont Mining Corporation was named immediately to the board, according to an announcement made Monday.

She has 25 years of experience in financial leadership roles and previously was executive vice president and CFO for MPLX, a publicly traded midstream energy company formed by Marathon Petroleum. She was also executive vice president and Chief Financial Officer for MarkWest Energy Partners for 11 years prior to its acquisition by MPLX. She is also a former partner with Ernst and Young.

Ms. Buese fills the vacancy on the Board created by the retirement of former longtime Board member Janice Stoney, and has been appointed to the Board’s Compensation and Management Development, and Environmental Health & Safety committees.

“Williams will benefit greatly from Nancy’s long track record of outstanding financial and energy leadership and experience,” said Alan Armstrong, president and chief executive officer. “Her appointment reflects well on Williams’ ongoing commitment to the enhancement of stockholder value and extends the Company’s long history of strong, independent corporate governance.”

The Williams Board of Directors now consists of 11 members, ten of whom are independent.
