Chlorine leak stopped at OKC Water Treatment Plant

Oklahoma City fire crews say no evacuations were necessary following a Monday night chlorine gas leak at the city’s Hefner Water Treatment Plant.

Crews were called to the scene in the 3800 block of W. Hefner Road around 9 p.m.  Nearly 50 firefighters were on scene trying to locate the leak. The Department’s Hazardous Materials Task Force performed an investigation and members stopped the leak.

They also checked nearby manholes to determine if the gas had spread.
