Bakken company prepares for refinery construction in North Dakota

As Meridian Energy Group moves ahead with construction of one of the first greenfield fuels refineries in the U.S. in four decades, it’s announced the signing of a major contract for housing in North Dakota’s Bakken play.

The company announced this week the signing of a letter of intent with Target Lodging of The Woodlands, Texas to provide the workforce housing for the Davis Refinery at Belfield, North Dakota. Better referred to as “man camps”, the project will provide the housing for the workforce in the construction of the 150-acre refinery project.

Meridian is still waiting on the North Dakota Department of Health to award the company a permit to construct the refinery in the very near future. The contract with Target Lodging was in preparation for the permitting.

Groundbreaking is still planned for this year with completion of the initial construction phase to be by early 2019. The refinery will be located just east of the Fryburg Rail Facility in the heart of the Bakken.

Meridian maintains the refinery will be capable of producing nearly zero sulfur diesel and jet fuels years ahead of EPA mandates.
