Anti-wind legislator wins GOP House nomination

He might be considered the most widely known of anti-wind legislators in the Oklahoma House, but voters still gave Rep. Mark McBride of Moore his party’s nomination in Tuesday’s primary election.

He easily won the Republican nomination for House District 53. McBride received 66.88% of the 5,018 votes cast in the election, getting 3,356 votes. His challengers Wesley Provine received 15.03% and Toryn Hambright 18.09%

On the Democratic side, Leslie Bonebreak and Cyndy Southerland are in a runoff in the August election. Bonebreak received 39.34% or 1,465 votes. Southerland picked up 36.14% or 1,346 votes.

McBride is known for an incident in 2017 involving an electronic tracking device discovered on his pickup truck and he blamed the wind industry. He also filed suit in federal court against private investigators allegedly involved in the incident.
