Wind Coalition Leader Subpoenaed by Oklahoma Multicounty Grand Jury

When Oklahoma’s multicounty grand jury meets in June, the question will be whether Wind Coalition director Jeff Clark of Austin, Texas will be there to testify.

Reports indicate he has been subpoenaed to testify as the grand jury probes the allegations of Moore Rep. Mark McBride who claims the wind industry hired private detectives to place an electronic tracker on his pickup truck last December.

A hearing will be held Friday by Travis County District Judge Karen Sage to determine where Clark and Texas political consultant George C. Shipley have to appear. The same judge in March granted Shipley’s request to not testify before the Oklahoma grand jury.

The Oklahoman reported that Clark has been asked to bring Wind Coalition records on research against McBride, a known anti-wind legislator.

While Clark has denied any involvement in hiring Shipley and the placement of the reported tracker, McBride has maintained the Wind Industry was behind the incident. In an early-May interview with OK Energy Today, Clark said he had nothing to do with it.

“At the end of the day, we didn’t know about the hackers until word came out,” said Clark in an interview with OK Energy Today. “We didn’t hire George Shipley.”

McBride’s reported discovery of the tracker led to an OSBI investigation as well as a lawsuit against Shipley and some private detectives, although the suit was eventually dropped against the investigators.

The grand jury will meet June 12-14.
