Tulsa City Council Member Named to National EPA Advisory Committee

Tulsa City Councilman Ben Kimbro is one of 14 persons named to the Local government Advisory Committee of the Environmental Protection Agency.

The 33-member LGAC helps EPA develop strong partnerships with local governments to provide more efficient and effective environmental protection at the community, state and federal level.

“EPA’s efforts to protect public health and the environment are most effective when the agency works cooperatively with state and local governments,” said EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt.

Kimbro and others were chosen based on their demonstrated leadership experience, proven record of services to their communities and involvement in effective environmental protection services and programs at the community, state and federal level.

He is also the only Oklahoman on the committee. Greensburg, Kansas mayor Box Dixson chairs the committee.

“Seeking local input is a big step by EPA in making environmental policies that work for our communities,” said Dixson. “We know what works best for our communities and Administrator Pruitt understands and respects that.”

Kimbro, elected to the Tulsa City Council in 2016 is Senior Director of Special Projects for Ross Group, a Tulsa-based Construction, Engineering and Development Company. He also serves on the Governor’s Unmanned Systems Council.
