SandRidge Energy Continues at Odds with Carl Icahn

In the battle of the boards between Oklahoma City’s SandRidge Energy and activist investor Carl Icahn, Icahn has made the latest move.

He has nominated two more directors to the energy company’s board. After the Board rejected his nomination of five board members, Icahn threw in the names of Nancy Dunlap and Jonathan Christodoro as his latest nominees.

At the same time, he has rejected SandRidge’s urging of shareholders to re-elect all five members and elect two of Icahn’s nominees.

“We believe that it is in the best interest of the company to elect all seven of our nominees and reaffirm our recommendation that the shareholders vote for our full seven-member slate,” said Icahn.

He went on to state he believes his nominees’ business experience and their knowledge of operations and investments “will be extremely beneficial to SandRidge and therefore, its shareholders.”

Nancy Dunlap is private counsel and also operates the private family office of former New Jersey Gov. and former U.S. Sen. Jon Corzine.

Christodoro is a private investor and until last year, was managing director of Icahn Capital LP.

The company’s annual meeting has been set for June 19.
