OWRB approves over $27.9 million for water & wastewater improvements at May board meeting

 

Nearly $28 million in State Water Resources Board grants for water and wastewater improvements have been awarded to the cities of Edmond, Jay and Sapulpa.

The board took the action at a recent meeting authorizing the largest grant of $19 million to the Edmond Public Works Authority to improve the city’s water infrastructure. The improvements will be financed by the Oklahoma Drinking Water State Revolving Fund.

The improvements include construction of a new two-million gallon elevated storage tank at the Danforth Road location and construction of a water system control buildings at the Arcadia water treatment plant.

Joe Freeman, Chief of the OWRB’s Financial Assistance Division estimated there will be $341,000 in savings for customers over the life of the 20-year loan.

The Jay Utilities Authority received approval for $1,031,000 in funding to improve its water infrastructure.  Improvements will be made to the water treatment plant clarifier as well as construction of a new water storage tank and the panting of three existing water storage tanks.

Estimated savings over the 25-year loan are $203,000 for customers.

Sapulpa’s Municipal Authority won approval for a $7,850,000 loan for improvements to the Authority’s wastewater infrastructure.

Gravity sewer lines will be constructed as well as a lift station . Estimated savings for customers over the life of the 26-year loan are $417,000.
