National Public Works Week

U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) and Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) praised the passage of S. Res. 528, a bipartisan resolution designating this week as National Public Works Week. The resolution encourages the public to recognize and celebrate the important contributions that public works officials make every day to improve public infrastructure in the United States.

“Public works infrastructure makes our modern life possible,” Inhofe, Chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Subcommittee on Transportation and Infrastructure, said. “The men and women who build and maintain this infrastructure are vital public servants, providing the platform for our commercial activity and keeping Americans healthy and safe. As we continue to advance legislation, like America’s Water Infrastructure Act that will modernize and improve our water resources and infrastructure, it is necessary and important to recognize the hardworking public works professionals who make our infrastructure accomplishments possible.”

“Public works professionals make vital contributions to our country. They make sure our communities have clean water, effective mass transit, and safe roads and bridges,” Harris said. “I encourage individuals, local governments, and organizations to join us in paying tribute to these public servants and celebrating our nation’s great accomplishments in infrastructure.”

The resolution was also cosponsored by Senators Cassidy, Boozman, Capito, Barrasso, Fischer, Carper, Blumenthal, Shaheen, Hassan, Smith, King and Van Hollen.
