Memorial Day Weekend Gasoline Prices Continue Climbing

As we head into the long Memorial Day holiday weekend, gasoline prices continued to soar reaching a national average of $2.96 a gallon while Oklahoma drivers pay $2.70 per gallon of unleaded regular.

AAA Oklahoma reports the Oklahoma average compares to $2.64 just a week ago and $2.47 a month ago. Lawton continues to have the cheapest gasoline at $2.58 a gallon, up a nickel in the past week.

The average in Oklahoma City is up to $2.69 a gallon, a six-cent jump over the past week. Tulsa’s average rose 4 cents in the last week to reach a new average of $2.71 per gallon.

But motorists in western and northwestern Oklahoma are paying the highest averages—$2.90 per gallon for drivers in Harmon and Ellis counties. The average in Dewey County is $2.87 while motorists in Woods pay $2.82 and those in Woodward pay $2.80 a gallon.

If you’re taking a drive to an adjacent state, get ready to pay $2.95 a gallon New Mexico; $2.73 in Kansas; $2.76 in Texas, $2.67 in Arkansas and $2.72 in Missouri.
