Dallas Company Expands Natural Gas Pipeline in Western Oklahoma

Growing commitments have led to an expansion of Cardinal Midstream III LLC’s Iron Horse pipeline system in western Oklahoma.

The Dallas-based company said it is expanding the 100-mile system to 150 miles following a pledge from Camino Natural Resource LLC in Oklahoma City. Camino pledged more than 100,000 acres of its production to the Iron Horse system.

Cardinal started the Iron Horse System in February with the natural gas gathering pipeline, several compressor stations and a cryogenic processing plant. With Camino’s pledge, the system is now up to about 150,000 acres handling natural gas out of the STACK and SCOOP plays.

“Together the dedications from Camino and Travis Peak provide a strong platform for significant and rapid expansion to our gathering footprint,” Tim Roberts, Cardinal’s president and chief financial officer, said in a statement. “As we broaden the rich natural gas system, we are also evaluating ways to add complementary crude and dry gas gathering services.”

Construction is already underway for the expansion and a processing plant is expected online in the third quarter.
