Wind Leader Accuses House Leadership of Deceit and Duplicity

House leadership at the Oklahoma state capitol has reportedly turned down economic concessions made by the wind industry in a fight over taxes.

Mark Yates, Oklahoma Director of the Wind Coalition says if the House follows through with its plans it will be “recorded as one of the darkest years in our history.”

It’s the message he recently delivered to school superintendents around the state as the House has SB 888 on its agenda but did not act last week as scheduled.

“The deceit and duplicity among certain members of the House leadership is appalling as they continue to repeat the deliberately false information provided by the anti-wind groups,” warned Yates.

He told the school leaders they need to know the wind energy industry offered House leader a $1 per MW hour generation tax on new projects and it was denied.

Yates said the wind industry also offered House leadership a $2,000 NamePlate Capacity tax and it too was denied.

He said the wind energy industry also offered to be taxed exactly like oil and gas and it was denied.
