Cushing’s Latest Midstream Company

A newly-formed midstream energy company in Oklahoma is headquartered in Tulsa, but its real base of operations will be in Cushing and the oil marketing hub of the nation.

While Dariusz Cichocki describes his Getka company as “four guys, a pickup truck and some cows,” he also admits the company received an initial commitment of $250 million, according to a report in the Tulsa World.

He named the company after his mother’s maiden name, a woman who made a promise to leave Warsaw, Poland and come to the U.S.

“We have a hub-and-spoke strategy where the hub will be our Cushing-based assets and every spoke will connect and add value to each component in the platform,” Cichocki told the newspaper.

“We will build pipelines, field-based terminals and truck to pipe operations to move volumes from fields to terminal centers such as Cushing,” Cichocki said. “We have ambitious plans to build a sizable company that will make a difference in the field and the overall hub.”

Cichocki left Enbridge Energy as a lead strategist to start up his own company.

“It’s one of those things that if we didn’t try it on our own I would lose sleep, and if I don’t do it now I’m never going to do it,” he said. “I saw a lot of opportunity to create something and lure people here.”
