Inhofe’s FERC Bill Wins Committee Approval

Last week, the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee favorably reported H.R. 1109, legislation to ensure all transmission transactions are provided parity in the review process by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). This bill is the companion legislation to S. 1860, authored by Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) and Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.).

“I’m pleased that the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee passed our bipartisan legislation last week,”Senator Inhofe, senior member of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, said. “By treating all energy transactions equally, we will cut red tape and save consumers money. I look forward to working with Senator Heinrich to get our bill signed into law this year.”

“Ensuring parity for minor transactions that involve a utility’s transmission system will reduce barriers for grid infrastructure investments and move us closer to a more resilient, reliable, and secure electric grid,” said Senator Heinrich, member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee. “I’m pleased our bipartisan legislation continues to gain momentum and will continue to work with Senator Inhofe to move it forward.”
