Halliburton Decides to Auction Off One of Its Houston Campuses

Another sign of what the oil and gas downturn is doing in Texas.  Halliburton, the firm that got its start in Oklahoma before relocating headquarters to Houston confirmed it plans to sell one of its campuses.

The company will put up for sale the 49-acre Oak Park campus in Houston’s Westchase submarket. The auction will be held April 27.

Halliburton originally started efforts to sell the campus in the fall of 2016. But apparently without getting a buyer, the company decided to hold an auction to unload the property.

The campus includes a 568,000 square foot vacant office building as well as a 17,000 square foot fitness center, a day care center, a central plant and a five-level parking garage.

The auction is yet another indication how Halliburton and other energy companies are taking steps to save money.

“Halliburton is selling its Oak Park facility as part of the company’s ongoing cost-management efforts,” stated a Halliburton spokeswoman.

The company’s headquarters are located on the Sam Houston Parkway near the George Bush Intercontinental Airport. Halliburton also has two other Houston locations, a Technology Center and an Energy Services location.
