Tulsa’s American Airlines Maintenance Center Gets Boost from Leadership

Don’t expect any closure of the American Airlines maintenance center in Tulsa.  That’s the focus of a Tulsa World story this week as executives at the airline exuded confidence in the Tech-Ops-Tulsa base where 5,200 workers are employed.

“Things have been tough, but we’re on a great path. Things are so good right now,” said Erik Olund, managing director of the center.

As the paper reported, things will become even busier at the maintenance base when American Airlines brings a new engine maintenance program.  The new maintenance will be on the CFM56-5B engine while current overhauls are on the CFM56-7B engine.

The company also has plans to convert some hangars into a 737 Center of Excellence
