A Valentine’s Day Warning About Metallic Balloons

With the arrival of Valentine’s Day, a warning’s being issued by power companies across the country—be careful about releasing any of the metallic balloons that fancy some sweethearts.

If one of the metallic balloons comes into contact with a power line, it can lead to a power outage.

For example, last year in California, Pacific Gas and Electric handled 456 power outages caused by metallic balloons in Northern and Central California. Service was disrupted to more than 371,000 homes and businesses.
